Pet Insurance Providers
When it comes to finding the best pet health insurance plan there are a couple of options you have. First, you can review pamphlets with your vet, because the vet office is one place where you are sure to find lots of them. Certain vets may favor certain pet insurance providers, and as long as they are not getting any kickbacks from said providers, I would be abliged to go with their opinion.
Another option is to do some research yourself, and this is definitely not as difficult as you might think. Simply hopping onto a pet message board and asking around can provide you a wealth of good info pertaining to the different types of pet insurance providers that exist as by doing this, you are communicating with actual pet owners who have had experience with pet insurers and can steer you in the right direction.

VPI
If you are looking for a pet insurance plan that has been around since the stone ages, then Veterinary Pet Insurance (VPI) is for you. the plan was founded back in 1980, the year I was born! There is coverage available for all types of pets not just dogs, and with the largest customer base in the United States, these guys are obviously doing something right. Trupanion
Trupanion offers pet insurance plans for dogs and cats between the ages of eight weeks and 14 years. They offer pet insurance plans to pet owners in the majority of US states, as well as in Canada. They do not, as far as I know, offer plans for other types of pets at this time. One of the coolest things about Trupanion is their recent move to adjust their policies to remove any payment threshhold limit, so if your pet is very sick and needs ongoing veterinary care, you do not have to panic when it comes to paying. ASPCA Pet Insurance
Under the brand names Hartville, ASPCA, and Petshealth Insurance, this company has been in business since 1997 and there are four plans that pet owners can choose from. They currently have more than 80,000 policy holders and more are added every day. I really am a fan of their web site as they do a great job of laying out the information in a way that makes it easy to find and understand.
